DAY 01 Nairobi
On arrival in Nairobi, you are met and assisted to The Jacaranda Hotel. Situated in the heart of Nairobi’s Westlands , this well equipped and comfortable hotel is set amidst beautiful gardens. The charm and attractions of the city are close by, but the location of this hotel affords the traveler a quiet and tranquil setting after a long international flight. Overnight
Day 02 Nairobi/Samburu
Morning briefing meeting and breakfast. This morning you will drive North through the lush, green countryside that produces Kenya ‘s finest coffee and tea. Continue across the equator and notice the terrain changing gradually to a semi-arid desert setting in the country’s northern territory . Arrive at the Samburu Game Lodge in time for a most welcoming luncheon and perhaps a swim in the crystal waters of the pool or a nap in the privacy of your cottage. Your first game drive of this safari will introduce you to the animals indigenous to this terrain. You may see the Somali ostrich, the Gerenuk, Grevy Zebra and the magnificent Reticulated Giraffe just to name a few. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 03 Samburu/Aberdare National Park
Breakfast is followed by a game run as you begin your journey to Kenya ‘s famous tree hotel, The Ark. Arrive at the Aberdare Country Club and wander about the lovely grounds as well as partake in their famous luncheon buffet. You will transfer to The Ark with an overnight bag for an evening of game viewing from the four viewing areas well as the ground level hide. Having a face-to-face episode viewing animals from the hide is a moment one can never prepare for and will never forget! Game viewing of the animals that enter the floodlit waterhole may include rhino, elephant, bushbuck, leopard and of course the occasional and elusive bongo. Overnight: The Ark
Day 04 The Ark/Lake Nakuru
Your safari this morning will take a South-Westerly direction as you head toward the Lake Nakuru National Park . World renowned for its flamingo population, Nakuru boasts a wide variety of bird sightings as well as its rhino sanctuary , bush and waterbuck as well as the nocturnal leopard who frequently nap in the trees near the lake. Arrive at the Lake Nakuru Lodge in time for lunch before setting out on the afternoon game drive. As evening begins to draw close, your evening will be spent at the Lake Elementaita Lodge. Enjoying a taste of the colonial homes of early English settler’s this red brick building is adorned with shady terraces, and a warm interior. Dinner and overnight.
Day 05 Lake Nakuru/Masai Mara
The jewel of Kenya ‘s game reserves is the Masai Mara Game Reserve – the northern tip of the Serengeti National Park . The park is noted for the Big 5…elephant, buffalo, rhino, lion and leopard as well as the various plains game and bird life that abounds in this region. Arrive at the Mara Simba Lodge, built with exclusivity and comfort in mind, this lodge overlooks a dramatic bend in the Talek River and is dominant in its Masai theme. Lunch is followed by a game drive. Return to the lodge for dinner and entertainment with traditional Masai dancers.
Day 06 Masai Mara
A full day in the Masai Mara. This morning you will have the opportunity to participate in an optional balloon safari if you wish, while others head out on a pre-breakfast game drive. The day will be filled with wonderful meals and exciting game viewing experiences including game drives and often available are walking excursions as well.
Day 07 Masai Mara/Nairobi/Depart
Breakfast is followed by a game run as you leave the park and head back to the city. Arrive at the Jacaranda Hotel for check in. This afternoon can be enjoyed resting, taking a swim or doing some last minute shopping. Evening transfer to the airport for the evening flight back home
