8 DAY LUXURY SAFARI
TO NAIROBI, CHYULU HILLS, GREAT RIFT VALLEY AND MASAI MARA NATIONAL PARK
Day One: Nairobi
Arrive at Jomo-Kenyatta International Airport and meet your Kompass Safari representative who will escort you to your accommodation in Nairobi where you can relax, dine and rest in preparation for safari adventure.
Day Two and Three: Chyulu Hills
In the morning, you are collected from your hotel and transferred to Wilson Airport where you board your Charter Flight to Campi ya Kanzi Airstrip. A 10 minutes Flight to the Camp where you will spend the next two nights. Campi ya Kanzi is a beautiful and luxurious camp which accommodates a maximum of 14 guests in seven thatched-roof guesthouses. These include ‘The Hemingway Suite’ named after the famous author who wrote of the nearby Chyulu Hills in his “Green Hills of Africa.” They feature either a King-Size or Twin Bed, made at the camp with local logs, with specifically fabricated linen imported from Italy. A table, a colonial trunk, two safari chairs, shelves and hangers for your clothes, and daily fresh flowers complete the interior décor. Activities include a cultural visit to a Masai Manyatta, guided walks, game-drives, and bird watching.
Day Four and Five: Great Rift Valley
Enjoy a morning game-drive and breakfast before your charter flight to Shompole Airstrip and a short drive bring you to your next stop at Shompole Lodge, a unique camp, ideally situated to make the most of both an incredible view and the cool breeze. It was constructed with local, natural materials combined with flowing water and smooth white walls to create a fresh and luxurious bush experience. Each private tented room provides an ample, shady oasis in this green desert environment. Activities include River Trips, Evening Walks at Lake Natron to view the Flamingoes, Canoeing, Night Game-Drives.
Day Six and Seven: Masai Mara National Park
Enjoy a morning game drive before your charter flight to the Masai Mara National Reserve where you will be staying at Bateleur Camp at Kichwa Tembo. Accommodation is in a lavishly furnished tent with en-suite shower room. Your personal butler tends the tent and any needs you may have.
Activities will focus on exploring Masai Mara National Reserve which is probably Kenya’s most famous, well known and most popular wildlife destination. Mara is almost certainly the best place to see the Big Five. It is home to all the iconic African wildlife of your safari daydreams. The millions of migratory herbivores are dominated by wildebeest, zebra, impala and gazelles. Elephant and buffalo are very common, in addition to eland, waterbuck, reed buck, several species of gazelle, Masai Giraffe, Topi, hartebeest, and some black rhino. The predators are dominated by lions with some exceptionally large prides and some of the highest densities in the world. Also present are leopard, cheetah, spotted hyena, wild dog, jackal, serval, caracal, bat eared fox and hyrax. The Mara River is home to large populations of hippo and crocodiles. Birdlife is also abundant with nearly 500 species recorded. The Reserve is one of the world’s largest wildlife sanctuaries and it will leave you awestruck with its unequalled beautiful vistas and wildlife. You will also have to opportunity to visit a village and meet with the Masai people.
Optional activity
A hot air balloon ride over the Masai Mara National Reserve is available at (supplementary cost by pre-arrangement). This is a stunning once in a lifetime experience to soar and drift above these African plains, spotting wildlife and enjoying the amazing aerial view of the rivers, villages and wildlife below you.
You can also opt to take a day trip to Lake Victoria (Mfangano Island) at an additional cost.
Day Eight: Masai Mara National Park to Nairobi
Following an early morning game drive and breakfast, you transfer to the airstrip for your scheduled Flight to Wilson Airport. On arrival, you are met and taken Jomo-Kenyatta International Airport in time to catch your Flight out. For those with a late evening flight, an optional day room can be reserved for you to relax and freshen before you transfer to the Airport.
