7 DAY UGANDA CHIMPANZEE TOUR
TO KAMPALA, KIBALE FOREST NATIONAL PARK AND QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK
Day One: Kampala
After breakfast our tour guide will meet you at your hotel for a Kampala City Tour which will take you to historically significant sites such as the Kasubi tombs (a burial site for the Kings of Buganda), the Uganda Museum, Makerere University, one of the oldest educational institution in Africa and the Bahai Temple, the only temple of Bahai faith in Africa. Spend the evening relaxing, or carry your own shopping in Kampala’s local markets before returning to your hotel for dinner and your evening relaxation.
Day Two: Kampala to Kibale Forest National park
After an early breakfast, we head to Kibale Forest National Park for chimpanzee trekking. While trekking here you will be able to see many primate species including red colobuses, blue colobuses, grey cheeked mangabeys and black and white colobus monkeys, as well as other wildlife such as butterflies, birds and many other small insects. Your tour guide will talk you through the different ways you can identify the many varieties of trees here as well as the other features of the forest. After the trek we return to the lodge for lunch after which you will be able to take a nature walk through the Bigodi Swamp with a guide pointing out the many different varieties of birds and mammals before returning to your lodge for dinner and your overnight stay.
Day Three: Kibale Forest National Park to Queen Elizabeth National Park
After breakfast we drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park. On entry to the park be sure to take in the view of the majestic Rwenzori Mountain range as we start our time here with a game drive with the opportunity to spot warthogs, lions, leopards, buffaloes, elephants, hyenas and a variety of antelope species before retiring to your lodge for dinner and your evening relaxation.
Day Four: Queen Elizabeth National Park
Queen Elizabeth National Park boasts as one the highest biodiversity ratings of any game park in the world, from the open savannah to rainforest, dense swamps and beautiful crater lakes to the vastness of Lake Edward and a truly huge array of wildlife including Hippos, Lions, Buffaloes, Leopard, Spotted Hyena and the elusive giant forest hog amongst many others. There are also many primates to see here include chimpanzees, many members of the colobus monkey family, red tailed monkeys and olive baboons. With ample opportunities for viewing the many species of African wildlife wandering free in nature, this is the day you will have imagined when you first dreamed of your African Safari adventure.
Day Five: Kyambura Gorge
Following breakfast we visit Kyambura Gorge where you can see the many Chimpanzees who call the Gorge home. There are also other species of primates to see such the Black and White Colobus monkeys as well as many other animals including antelopes, hyenas and lions. We will return to the lodge for lunch and a chance to relax by the side of the swimming pool before taking an afternoon boat trip along the Kazinga channel. This will give you the opportunity to view wildlife up close. Hippo’s huff and spray mere feet away from the boat whilst buffalo linger in the shallows. The shores of the channel are also home to an array of birds including pink backed pelicans, pied and malachite kingfishers, saddle billed stork and many others. After this wonderful afternoon, a slow drive back to the lodge where you can rest and enjoy dinner.
Day Six: Guided Nature Walk & Local Community Tour
After breakfast we go for a guided nature walk in Maramagambo Forest, the thick forest rich in birds, butterflies and monkeys and visit the Bat Cave and the Blue Lake. After lunch you will have the opportunity to go for a stroll around the Lodge and partake in a Local Community Tour to spend time and converse with locals and see how they live.
Day Seven: Return to Kampala
After an early breakfast we drive back to Kampala stopping for lunch along the way.
