6 DAY KENYAN WILDLIFE SAFARI
TO NAIROBI, LAKE NAKURU NATIONAL PARK AND MASAI MARA NATIONAL PARK
Day One: Nairobi to Samburu National Park
Arrive at Jomo-Kenyatta International Airport and meet your Kompass Safari representative. You will then be driven to Samburu National Park, arriving in time for lunch. In the afternoon you can explore the Park with a game drive where you can see large groups of elephants and the big five mammals as well as some wildlife that only lives in the dry north of Kenya, such as a gerenuk which stands on its rear legs to feed.
Day Two: Samburu National Park to Aberdre National Park
There is time for an early morning game drive at Samburu before depart for Aberdare National Park. Following lunch, you can take an afternoon game drive to sight rhino, elephant, baboon, black and white Colobus monkey and Sykes monkey. Rarer sightings include leopard, lion, the golden cat and an elusive forest antelope called the bongo, which lives in the bamboo forest. Higher in the moorlands, you may be lucky and see eland and even Serval cats.
Day Three: Aberdare National Park to Lake Nakuru National Park
After breakfast, we head to Lake Nakuru National Park, celebrated for being the home to thousands of greater and lesser flamingo. The park is also home to Rothschild giraffe, rhino and leopard. Arrive for lunch at Nakuru and take an afternoon game drive in the park before returning to your Lodge for dinner and your evenings relaxation.
Day Four: Lake Nakuru National Park to Masai Mara National Park
After early breakfast, head to Masai Mara National Reserve which is probably Kenya’s most famous, well known and most popular wildlife destination. Mara is almost certainly the best place to see the Big Five. It is home to all the iconic African wildlife of your safari daydreams. The millions of migratory herbivores are dominated by wildebeest, zebra, impala and gazelles. Elephant and buffalo are very common, in addition to eland, waterbuck, reed buck, several species of gazelle, Masai Giraffe, Topi, hartebeest, and some black rhino. The predators are dominated by lions with some exceptionally large prides and some of the highest densities in the world. Also present are leopard, cheetah, spotted hyena, wild dog, jackal, serval, caracal, bat eared fox and hyrax. The Mara River is home to large populations of hippo and crocodiles. Birdlife is also abundant with nearly 500 species recorded.
Day Five: Masai Mara National Park
After an early breakfast you can take an early morning game drive and continue exploring Masai Mara. The Reserve is one of the world’s largest wildlife sanctuaries and it will leave you awestruck with its unequalled beautiful vistas and wildlife. You will also have to opportunity to visit a village and meet with the Masai people.
Optional activity
A hot air balloon ride over the Masai Mara National Reserve is available at (supplementary cost by pre-arrangement). This is a stunning once in a lifetime experience to soar and drift above these African plains, spotting wildlife and enjoying the amazing aerial view of the rivers, villages and wildlife below you.
Day Six: Masai Mara National Park to Nairobi
Following breakfast we return to Nairobi, arriving in the city center around midday you will be taken to the airport to continue with your onward travel.
