4 DAY GORILLA TREKKING TOUR

TO LAKE MBURO NATIONAL PARK AND BWINDI IMPENETRABLE FOREST

Day One: Kampala to Lake Mburo National Park

Your Kompass Safari guide will meet you in Kampala and together you will depart by road for Lake Mburo National Park. You will stop at the Equator for photographs and snacks. On your way to the park you will enjoy a game drive and see the wildlife and terrain at the National Park. After lunch, enjoy a boat ride in Lake Mburo amidst hippos, crocodiles, herons and a vast array of birdlife. Local fishermen and fishing villages may be also seen along the way and we stop to enjoy some traditional local dancing. You will the return to your camp for dinner and the nights rest and relaxation.
Day Two: Lake Mburo National Park to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
After breakfast we take an early morning game drive and expect to see warthogs, elands, Uganda kob, buffaloes and many birds. We then head to Mbarara for lunch which is followed by a scenic drive through Kabale and its spectacular hills, valleys and forests. We then make our way to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and end the day with dinner and relaxation at your accommodation.

Day Three: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
Following breakfast, you will report to the ranger station for registration at 8am. The guides will then take you through the bush, pushing your way through the undergrowth and parting thick creepers to track the gorillas. This trek can take from half an hour to 5 hours and a reasonable degree of fitness is required as well as a sturdy pair of walking shoes. Sit in the forest among the gorillas, listening to them grumble to each other, and marvel at the sheer size of the dominant male; the Silverback.

It is an extraordinary feeling sitting in the dense rainforest knowing you are with a few of the last remaining mountain gorillas. There are now only about 650 of these beautiful creatures left in the wild.

You will also go for a village walk to see how Ugandans live, see how they perform their traditional dances especially the Batwa before returning to your accommodation.

DAY 4: Bwindi Impenetrable Forest – Kampala
An early breakfast at the camp before the drive back to Kampala, with lunch along the way.
